Here we go again…

Sunday, August 21st

Once again my goal was to take myself to a nice brunch, did that happen? Nope. I woke up not feeling the best and wasn’t feeling up to get dressed up and sit at a restaurant. I still wanted to get out of the house and have a semi self-ish Sunday so I made my way to Starbucks!

On my way there I took some time to really take in the beauty of Florida that surrounds me on the daily. I remember when I moved here I told myself that I couldn’t ever let myself get used to the palm trees and constant sun. I caught myself getting a little too used to them but on this specific drive I reverted back to the feelings and thoughts of them when I first came to school: vacation. The sun was shining like it normally does but it felt different. Even though I personally wasn’t feeling well, the weather and pretty views took my mind off of it and istead calmed me. Everyday when I walk out of my apartment I just think of how lucky I am to be able to go to school in this state (thanks mom and dad hehe).

I got to Starbucks and ordered myself a Iced Vanilla Chai Latte and an impossible breakfast sandwich ( yes I am a vegetarian) which I was super excited about. I paid with cash so I was able to leave them a tip. For some reason you aren’t able to tip when you use a card. Ever since I started serving I have even more appreciation for other people in the serving industry. Just a few dollars can’t hurt you but it sure as hell can help someone else. And it makes you feel good as well which is nice. I hung out in the comfy chairs and worked on my blog for a little and just enjoyed people watching around me.

My friend works at a pet supply and grooming place next door so I walked over to surprise her. I hadn’t seen her in a while so it was really great to catch up with her quickly! I then Went across the street to one of my favorite places to shop in the area, Sprouts, to pick up some groceries for the week. I always love just walking around in there and finding cool new things to try. They also have quite the vegetarian/ vegan selection which is always super exciting. I did some meal prepping for the week before I needed to head to work to serve. It was a super nice shift because my friends came to visit during happy hour. After my shift I surprised them with ice cream and flowers to celebrate them starting their internships the following day.

Side note: Being self-ish doesn’t always have to be some extravagant plans. It can be as simple as treating yourself to a coffee or sitting outside with a good book. As long as you do something that makes you happy and brings you peace. Be as self-ish as you want, when you want!!
